The Fast Food industry has already begun shedding jobs for Robots, and will quickly become less and less of role in our social safety net. The business goal is profits, not jobs, so economic decisions will be made.
There is a flood of new Robots ready for the food services industry, ready to take those juicy $7.50 jobs.
A small noodle restaurant can replace a kitchen worker with a reliable $2500 noodle robot.
Another Robot can make up to 360 gourmet Hamburgers per hour. And of course regular fast food hamburger Robots will also appear.
It is great for a restaurant to need only 3 kitchen workers instead of 4 for a $2500 investment s a bargain and their economic duty. Fixing rampant unemployment is ‘not my job’.
Beyond the kitchen, point of order will become automated also. Chili’s and Applebee’s plan to have a tablet ordering and paying system, with no interactions needed with the wait staff at all. Everything will go that way.
