Self-driving cars, such as Google’s, are already here, and only need regulatory approvals for mass deployment. This will be great for the elderly, and the blind. They can have a new self-sufficiency. But, if its good for them, why not have fleets of cars operating like taxis ? Why drive your kids to school, or get them on a school bus, when the robot car can drop them off ? Why not have the robot vehicles (ground and air) do all our deliveries. While we’re at it, why pay ANYONE to do driving ? That is a lot of decent jobs in the crosshairs. More Legacy Humans.
In addition to several self driving car projects , there are virtual trains of robotic trucks that will use existing highways, traveling a set distance from one another, with a single driver in the front truck. Of course, that driver is a simply place-holder for a fully automated transportation process.
